Voice Control Module
This module is meant for those using inappropriate volume and pitch in speech leading to lack of clarity, voice abuse, tiredness of voice, poor control or command over voice and sometimes damage of the vocal folds. Speech becomes pleasant and effortless with the appropriate voice volume, neither too loud nor too soft and when the voice is not fluctuating. The unique feature of this module is its usability for individuals whose pitch level is not appropriate to the gender and age (Puberphonia: male having a female voice, Androphonia: female having a male voice).
The module is organized as follows
-
General awareness on ‘What is volume?’ and ‘What is pitch?’.
(See 'Learn More >> Voice >> General Awareness')
The menu option to be chosen for a specific voice related problem can be noted from the main 'Help' menu.
- Measurements on volume (Intensity in dB) and pitch (F0 in Hz) to note the current status in comparison with the expected normal values. Correlation between volume and pitch can be studied. Option to measure the optimum pitch is also available.
Measurements can be run on built-in demo sample files in which case the results are interpreted. Measurements made on live voice can be saved in a file specific to the user's name. Within each measurement menu option, a 'Help' document can be opened to learn on how to use that option.
-
Therapy Practice
Each therapy option can be run on built-in demo sample files to understand the functionality of that option.
Within each option, a 'Help' document can be opened to learn on how to use that option.
Performance score is automatically saved in a file specific to the user's name.
Voice Control Module provides tasks, games and graphical feedback such that one is able to talk with a good control over voice. The following options are available:
- Volume control - The menus under this option provides interesting games or tasks to measure the volume being used at present and encourages the user to achieve the appropriate or suitable volume in order to complete the task.
- Pitch control - The ‘Pitch Meter’ and ‘Pitch Bird’ options can be used to measure the pitch being used at present; find out the optimum pitch through these tasks thereby help the user practice speaking at the optimum pitch avoiding fluctuations in voice.
- Echo voice with pitch scaling option is useful for Puberphonia / Androphonia where the user can speak utterances at the present pitch level and listen to his/her own voice after pitch scaling to get a reference voice of appropriate pitch to mimic and practice
- Simultaneous volume and pitch control - By means of simultaneous control of volume and pitch, the user becomes aware of volume and pitch as two independent attributes of voice and also achieves a fine degree of control over voice.
